Junior Bazile performances in Malawi in October 2016

To all my fans, I want to inform you that I will be performing in several venues in Malawi in the end of October. I will be playing at Chez Maky in Blantyre, at clubs in Lilongwe and in Zomba.

So if you are in Malawi or anywhere in Southern Africa, we look forward to seeing you in Malawi for those shows.

Stay tuned for a detailed schedule of those show soon.

The importance of music in our lives

We all use music in many ways in our lives. When we were born our parents celebrated using music. For our baptism, music was played. For our first communion music was played and everyone was dancing. For our wedding we had the best musicians to perform or the best DJ to play the best tunes. For our grand children births, baptisms and weddings music will definitely be played. At our funerals there will be music performed by the best brass band in the city. It will be sad music though.

So from birth to death music has accompanied us all the way. Do you remember when you were trying to study and you put your headphones on to listen to music and get the best concentration level? What about when you went to the Gym, you also brought your music along to get the best workout.

When you are in the subway or in the bus, please pay attention, look around to see how many people have their headphones on listening to music.

Music is the only element that when it hits you, you don’t feel any pain. Instead you feel joyful, relax and ready for performing any task.

Enjoy music my friends!!!

Good music at L’Antillaise Restaurant on July 24 2016

Hi all, Junior Bazile will be performing at L’Antillaise Restaurant located at Franklin Square in New York with a group of wonderful musicians such as Bobby Raymond on the bass, Frederic Las Fargeas on keyboard and Dr Darius Fenelon Leopold on saxophone on July 24 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM. Don’t miss this opportunity to see and enjoy good music live.

In the musician’s brain, sometimes less is more

Remember how you were told as a kid that in order to truly master a skill, such as playing an instrument, you have to start young? While this is still a valid claim it is not the whole truth. Scientists have discovered that while intensive training increases gray matter in some areas of the brain, it also decreases gray matter in others. Recent studies show that as the brain becomes more efficient in some tasks, it actually uses fewer neurons for these tasks. So is there an ideal age to start practicing an instrument?

Music modulates the activity of neurons important for movement

My dear friends, I have been telling you for sometimes now that music is extremely powerful. I think that some of you are still skeptic. Well…. you should please read this article. Parkinson’s disease – which is a disease of the brain characterized by slowness of movement, muscular rigidity, tremor and instability of gait (the patient cannot stand straight or he loses his equilibrium) – can be treated with music. There is a body of evidence-based research looking into just that. Enjoy the reading in the link below:

New Alzheimer treatment fully restores memory function

Recently it was discovered that music has the ability to help patients with Parkinson disease regain their capacity to perform appropriate, voluntary and measured movement (I shared the article a couple of days ago). Now this new therapy for Alzheimer disease uses sounds waves to obtain significant results in Alzheimer patients. I wonder if those sounds are organized in a musical way, would the effectiveness of treatment be the same. But in any cases, we always knew that music is powerful and can be used in a variety of ways to do good and make people feel good. The proofs are coming one after the other. Great article guys. Through music, memories return

It is clear that music is extremely powerful. It gives wings to our souls. Please read this neat and great initiative which put in evidence, once again, the power of music. Access the article in the link below:

Thank you all and Happy New Year.

Dear family, friends and fans,

With your permission I would like to take a couple of seconds or minutes from your precious time and ask you to please read this thank you note that I wrote specially for you.

In 2015, I had my good times and my own struggles. Some of those struggles were extremely ugly. There are many occasions in which I wanted to just literally give up. Yes, in many occasions I wanted to just give up in 2015. Stop a couple of projects. Stop talking to people and enclose myself in a world inhabited by only one individual, just me. But I did not. I did not because one thought kept coming to my mind: if I give up I know that my family and beloved ones will not be happy, I know that they will be hurt and you also will be hurt. So I kept on going. I decided not to give up, not to surrender and never give in. Now that I am entering 2016, looking back, I am just telling myself what a stupid mistake that I would have made had I given up.

My belief in God was instrumental and tremendously crucial in my refusal to give up. God accompanied me every step of the way. He is so amazing and so faithful to us. All we need to do is trust him, love him, accept him and do what he recommends and he will take care of all the rest.

I am sure that you also had your difficult struggles. And one thing that I am sure of is if you are capable of reading this message that means you did not give up either in 2015. You have decided to stay strong, to stay connected and to improve your social capital. That is the best decision that you have ever made.

Life is tough. No matter what you do, no matter how you do it, one thing is sure life is tough and it will always be that way. Nevertheless, we all can find our ways to make it beautiful. Yes life can be beautiful and we can keep it like that. All that is needed is a clear goal. What do we want out of life? We can literally get everything that we want out of life with the help of God and if we help other people get what they want. The key to get what we want is to establish realistic goals while we also help other people get what they want. And move toward achieving that goal step-by-step, bit-by-bit every single day.

I want to conclude, this note to you, by thanking you all for your support in 2015. Many of you have purchased my album online, in stores or from me directly. Thank you so very much for your appreciation and support of my work. You just make me feel like creating more artistic work that you can continue appreciating. And without any doubt, I will continue playing and singing for your pleasure while we are all deeply enshrined in health promotion and disease prevention. And for those who have not yet purchased my album, it will never be too late to do the right thing. Just click on the CD Baby or iTunes link and buy my album.

For 2016 I would like to invite you to improve your relationships with others (family members, co-workers, friends, neighbors etc). This is very important. Some convincing and well designed studies have shown that money or fame are not the factors that define happiness for people living in their 6th , 7th or 8th decade. The key factor that defines happiness for people is the type of relationship that they have or had with others. So reach out to your family members, friends and co-workers and be meaningful, truthful and try hard to improve your relationships without any hypocrisy. Hypocrisy is a big killer of meaningful, healthy and durable relationships. So stay away from it.

All my best wishes of happiness, courage, love, peace and healthy relationships in 2016.

God bless you all.

Merry Christmas to you and your family

Merry Christmas to you all. Enjoy the song at this link:

This is a song that  I wrote in 2005 to participate in a Christmas song contest in Haiti (Konkou chante Nwèl Telemax). The song depicts the story of one of my HIV positive patients that I was treating back in 2004 in Boucan Carre, Haiti. In December 2004 my patient told me: “Doctor, while many people are asking Santa Claus for a new house, or a new car, or lots of money, or gold and diamonds and the kids are expecting beautiful toys, me all that I am asking Santa is health and good and reliable access to Antiretrovirals so that I can be able to get better, stand up and walk home”. He was questioning himself on the mode of transmission of HIV and how he was potentially infected. I was extremely touched by his statements and I told him that I wanted to write a song about his story. He authorized me to share his story with the world. Unfortunately this patient, who became my friend, died of HIV/AIDS in July 2005. I was extremely saddened by his death. I didn’t win the song contest, but I was extremely happy that I could write the song and share his story.

Good people, HIV is real. We all have a role to play in its treatment, prevention and control. Enjoy this music video and don’t forget to have a special thought to all those suffering with HIV/AIDS during this Christmas season.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to all my family, friends and fans.  Throughout 2015 I was blessed to have you in my life. I was particularly blessed toward the end of the year when my wife delivered our beautiful baby girl, Jayna. I want to thank God specially for that blessing.

Dear family, friends and fans please remember that Jesus is the reason for the season. Hence, keep Him within your families, keep Him in your heart and keep Him around you.

Merry Christmas.
